Distro overview
SimplyMEPIS is a live CD/DVD distro that installs or runs right from the disk. The latest release is an Ubuntu-based distro that uses the Dapper LTS package pool and the KDE desktop as a default.
Observations
Pro's:- Lots of great apps included, and many more easily installable via Synaptic
- WiFi installs easily and works well!
Con's:- Small community, but leverages Ubuntu

Bottom line
Bravo! SimplyMEPIS is to be congratulated on coming out with a solid distro, with good choices on the apps and utilities that are included, and a well thought-out implementation. At this time, it's "a better Kubuntu than Kubuntu," imo.
