Choice! Choice! Choice! That's what Linux is all about.
Each Linux distro has its own strengths and weaknesses. Each distro fills a need that people have, or even one person has. And that's what makes Linux a better alternative to other operating systems. Choice! Choice! Choice!
Myself, I use ALT Linux distributions. No other distro I've ever tried offers the kind of community support that ALT Linux does. I know how to use a desktop PC, but fall short on some of the more technical issues (regarding driver configurations, etc.). I like to know how to contact people in the development team to actually put together the OS I'm using. ALT Linux is the perfect solution for my needs and preferences.
I also keep a Knoppix disc in my briefcase as well. Unfortunately, at the office I work at, I'm stuck having to use the standard, sub-standard MS-Windows OS. I keep Knoppix handy to boot up on an office PC when I can. Believe me, if ALT Linux had a live distro of their own, I'd use it too.
Choice! Choice! Choice! That's what Linux is and always should be about.
