Yellow Dog goes gold for PS3 |

Terra Soft Solutions this week released Yellow Dog Linux 5.0, a Fedora-based distribution tailored to run on Sony PlayStation 3, for free download. It features a graphical installation program, an updated 2.6.16 kernel, and Enlightenment 17 as the default desktop.
Simple to install and familiar to use, the full-featured Yellow Dog Linux is an operating system tailor made for PowerPC, the spokesperson for the Colorado-based company said. Yellow Dog comes in an installable DVD form.
Key new features, according to the company, include:- X.Org 7.0 (3D acceleration not supported),
- optional KDE 3.5.3 and GNOME 2.14 desktops
- Firefox 1.5 browser
- OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 office suite
Standard features include:- GIMP 2.2.11 graphics editor
- GNUCash 1.8.12 personal financial suite
- GAIM 1.5.0 instant messenger
- MySQL 5.0.22 database
- Thunderbird 1.5r.0.4 email client
